In 2024, China’s automobile production and sales continued to rank first in the world for the 16th consecutive year. The production and sales reached 31.282 million and 31.436 million vehicles, respectively, representing year-on-year growth of 3.7% and 4.5%.
In the vehicle export sector, China has surpassed Japan for two consecutive years to become the world’s largest automobile exporter. In 2024, total exports reached 5.859 million units, a year-on-year increase of 19.3%.

By vehicle type, Passenger car exports reached 4.955 million units, a year-on-year increase of 19.7%, while commercial vehicle exports were 904,000 units, an increase of 17.5%.
In 2024, among the top ten exporters of vehicles, in terms of growth rate, BYD exported 433000, a year-on-year increase of 71.8%; Changan exported 536000, up 49.6%; JAC exported 249000, up 46.7%.
The top five countries for China’s automobile exports in 2024 were Russia, Mexico, Brazil, the UAE and Kyrgyzstan.

Corresponding to automobile exports is the export of automobile parts. According to data from the General Administration of Customs, the total export value of automotive parts reached 105.61 billion USD in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 6.8%. Among these, the demand for tyres, car lights, bumpers, shock absorbers, turbochargers, foot mats and automotive glass was the most robust.
